Cranston is a newer community in Calgary's deep southeast, built out through the 2000s and 2010s. It sits on the south edge of Fish Creek Provincial Park and includes Riverstone, a residential area along the Bow River. Housing is a mix of single-family homes, townhouses, and apartments, with parks and pathways throughout, including the Cranston Ridge escarpment.
Getting around
Cranston is car-dependent (Walk Score in the ~25–35 range as of 2025 research) and there's no C-Train station; bus service connects the community, and the future Green Line LRT may eventually serve the area, though the timeline remains uncertain. Stoney Trail and Deerfoot are the main routes out — roughly 25–30 minutes to the Trans-Canada to the west, and about 10–15 minutes south toward Legacy.
For families
Day-to-day amenities centre on Cranston Market, with larger shopping in Shawnessy and along 130th Ave. Fish Creek Park on the north edge and the Cranston Ridge parks give the community a lot of green space and pathways, and Century Downs is nearby.
