These terms cover your use of FamilyRoost. In plain terms: we give you a research tool built on public data to help you decide where to live — always confirm the details that matter with the school board before you act.

- Our ratings are derived from public data; catchments and programs can change — confirm your designated school and eligibility directly with the board.
- Plans are one-time purchases for a fixed window — no subscription, no auto-renew.
What FamilyRoost is
FamilyRoost helps parents compare schools and neighbourhoods using public sources — Alberta Education PAT results, the Fraser Institute report card, school-board accountability surveys, and City community boundaries — combined into our own "Roost Rating". We are independent and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or paid by the Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic, Edmonton Public Schools, Alberta Education, the Fraser Institute, realtors, or developers.
Not official advice
Designated-school and program information is our best effort from public data and can change between updates. It is not a guarantee. Always confirm your designated school, program eligibility, and application deadlines directly with the school board before making a decision.
Your account
Keep your sign-in secure and use FamilyRoost for your own household. The free tier has usage limits; paid features unlock with a purchase.
Payments
Family+ is a one-time purchase that unlocks paid features for a fixed decision window — there is no subscription and nothing auto-renews. The Roost Property Report is a report we prepare and deliver after purchase. Prices are shown in US dollars and payments are processed by Dodo Payments. For a refund question, contact us.
Acceptable use
Please don't scrape, bulk-extract, resell, or redistribute our data or ratings, or use the service to build a competing dataset. FamilyRoost is for personal, household use.
Our content and public data
Our rating methodology, the compiled ratings, and our written content are ours. The underlying public data belongs to its original sources, which we credit on our methodology pages.
No warranty and limits
FamilyRoost is provided "as is", without warranty of accuracy or availability. To the extent the law allows, our liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for it.
Changes and governing law
We may update the service and these terms; we will note the date above on a material change. These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta, Canada.
