Edmonton school ratings, grouped by tier

The Roost Rating blends Alberta Education’s accountability survey (AEAM, 50%) and Grade-6 PAT achievement (30%) into one 0–100 number, with our own field research applied on top. The Fraser score is shown on each school’s page but is not part of the rating. full methodology. It measures reported school performance. It does not measure school quality, your child’s fit, or the teaching you’d see in a classroom — and test-based measures track neighbourhood income, which is why we publish that critique beside the score.

There is no #1 school here. Schools are grouped into five tiers and listed alphabetically inside each one: a half-point gap is not a meaningful difference, so we don’t pretend it is.

Which school your child attends is set by your address, not by this list: every family in a catchment goes to the same school.

Covers Edmonton Public Schools (EPSB). Edmonton Catholic (ECSD) isn’t in our data yet.

Pending: not yet rated (8)

Pending means we don’t have the data, not that the school is weaker. These are mostly hospital and special-education settings (or schools without a Grade 6), so the provincial measures we rate on don’t apply or aren’t published for them.

Junior High1 of 32 rated

1 of 32 EPSB junior highs currently have enough data to rate. We show that honestly rather than pad the list.

C · Fair · 1 of 32 junior highs

Pending: not yet rated (31)

Pending means we don’t have the data, not that the school is weaker. The measures we rate on are anchored at Grade 6 (provincial PAT results and AEAM surveys from elementary-level schools), so junior highs without elementary grades can’t be scored yet. Where a junior high does show a rating, it is anchored in the school’s own elementary grades.

Senior High0 of 21 rated

0 of 21 EPSB senior highs currently have enough data to rate. We show that honestly rather than pad the list.

Pending: not yet rated (21)

Pending means we don’t have the data, not that the school is weaker. Senior highs aren’t rated yet: we don’t publish a diploma-level score.
